Maternity Boudoir Photography Glasgow — Celebrating the Body That's Growing a Life
There is no shortage of opinions when you're pregnant.
What you should be eating, how you should be sleeping, how you should feel about the body that is changing in front of you every single day. From the moment you conceived, and for the years that follow, your body is nourishment, shelter, and home for another life.
And somewhere amongst all that noise, there is you.
The person that is experiencing it all. The one who deserves to be seen and celebrated.
What maternity boudoir actually is
Moody and cinematic. Bold and intimate. Soft and powerful. Whatever version of yourself you want to take up space in: that's what we make together. The pregnancy becomes part of the story, not the only story.
Some people come in because they want their maternity photographs to look and feel completely different from everything they've seen before. Others come because they know that this body will not exist in quite this way again: and they want to mark it. Both are the right reason.
The thing nobody tells you
There will be days after.
Days when you feel depleted and exhausted and can't quite remember what life felt like before. Days when your eyes go straight to the things that changed. The lines that weren't there before. The softness where there wasn't softness. The body that looks different in the mirror than the one you used to know.
On those days, these photographs will bring you back to yourself.
Not to show you how you looked, but to remind you who you were. In the middle of doing something your body will never do in quite this way again.
I've watched people come through this studio during pregnancy holding themselves like they were apologising for taking up space. And I've watched those same people, at the end of the day, sit on the sofa with a cup of tea and look at photographs of themselves and go completely quiet.
That quiet is the whole point.
"I went in wanting to capture this time in a way that was different from a usual maternity shoot. I wanted to feel beautiful, and powerful, and sexy. Marieke made me feel so comfortable and confident and completely put me at ease.
It reinforced that I was still a woman as well as a mum."

You are about to give so much
You are about to spend a long time, beautiful, meaningful, important time, being everything for someone else. Gladly, willingly, with your whole heart.
Before that begins, you deserve one day that is entirely yours.
Not a rehearsal for the birth. Not a preparation for what comes next. A day to pause. To take in that you are starting a new, extraordinary chapter. To be with this body, exactly as it is right now, and to let it be enough.
A maternity boudoir experience at Marieke Captures is that pause.
What to expect
Every experience begins with a consultation: a chance to talk through what you're looking for, what you're nervous about, and what you've always wished someone would help you see in yourself. After this conversation has taken place, you can take all the time to decide if I’m the right photographer for you.
On the day, we take our time. There is no rushing. We work through the client wardrobe together, finding looks that feel like you: whether that's something dramatic and editorial, something soft and intimate, or something entirely unexpected. The experience is guided rather than posed, which means you don't need to know how to be in front of a camera. You just need to show up.
At the end of the day, we sit down together on the sofa with your favourite hot drink for your same day reveal session. I show you everything. This is the part I call the art of self-admiration: because looking at yourself, really looking, without immediately reaching for the things you'd change, is a skill most of us were never taught. We learn it together, over those photographs.
You leave the same day already knowing how your photographs turned out. No waiting weeks wondering. No anxious inbox checking.
When to book
The sweet spot for maternity boudoir is typically between 28 and 36 weeks: when the bump is beautifully visible but you're still feeling comfortable and mobile. That said, every pregnancy is different, and I'll always work around what feels right for you.
If you're earlier in your pregnancy and planning ahead, that's wonderful. It means we have time to find the perfect date and prepare without any rush. If you're further along and wondering if it's too late, reach out anyway. I'll always do my best to find a way.
This is also for adventure
If four walls don't feel like you, maternity boudoir doesn't have to happen in the studio in Glasgow.
Scotland's landscapes offer something entirely extraordinary for outdoor maternity sessions: ancient forests, open moorland, the edge of a loch with hills behind it. There is something very powerful about being photographed outdoors while pregnant. Something about standing on actual earth, feeling the wind, being utterly present in your body.
Adventure Boudoir Experiences are available April through October, across Scotland. If the idea of being photographed outside calls to you, it usually does for a reason.
Who this is for
Maternity boudoir at Marieke Captures is for anyone who wants their pregnancy documented on their own terms.
Any body. Any stage. Any story.
You don't need to feel beautiful. You don't need to feel ready. You don't need to be at any particular point in your relationship with your changing body. You just need to be willing to be in the room.
This studio is a proudly LGBTQ+ affirming space. All families, all bodies, all ways of becoming a parent are welcome here.
Practically speaking
Studio Maternity Experiences start from £495, with flexible payment plans available up to 12 months and credit card payments welcome. The same-day reveal is included across all packages.
You can take a look at the full packages and pricing here, or read more about what the studio experience looks like.
And if you have questions before you're ready to reach out: I put together a free guide with everything you need to know before booking. It's a good place to start.
So. Is this for you?
If this idea has been sitting at the back of your mind, if you've been turning it over, telling yourself maybe after, maybe when things calm down, I want you to hear this:
There is no better time than now. Not because everything is perfect. But because this version of you, right now, in this body, growing this life: will never exist again.
That deserves to be seen.
When you're ready, I'm here.
