ADVENTURE BOUDOIR SCOTLAND
You already know what it feels like to be outside and feel completely yourself. The stillness of a forest. The way open water makes you feel free. The moment you reach the top of a hill and feel, just for a second, like you are exactly where you are supposed to be.
That feeling, of freedom, is what this experience is built around.
There is more movement here than in the studio, the unknown of the weather, the sensation of standing barefoot on actual earth. It is the courage of taking up space in the open world, and being photographed doing it.
Scotland is one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the world, and the people who live here often see it least. Whether this is your own backyard or somewhere you travelled to feel something shift: this is a way to bring that feeling home.

The adventure session was an absolute blast!
We discussed places beforehand and Marieke is an amazing hype woman!
There was never a moment where I felt uncomfortable in my body, and the photographs show that. When I got them it made me feel like artwork. Like I belonged in a gallery somewhere, absolutely stunning!
I would highly recommend working with Marieke, she cares about you and has a wonderfully loving and holistic view of her clients that is saturated in every aspect of her work.’’ -Erin
The location is part of the story
There is no fixed backdrop, no standard location used for every session. The setting is chosen around you: your story, your energy, what you're drawn to.
A loch at golden hour, still and reflective. A moss-covered forest where the light falls through the branches. A stretch of coastline where the wind makes everything feel alive. A highland glen where the scale of it all does something to the way you hold yourself.
During your consultation, we'll talk through what speaks to you, and we will find the place that fits it all.
Sessions take place across the central belt of Scotland, including locations near Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as in the Highlands and the Cairngorms. For those travelling from further afield, location planning can begin well in advance of your visit: so that by the time you arrive, everything is in place and the day belongs entirely to you.
Worried about transport to your magical location? There is the option to have transport arranged, this can be discussed during your consultation so that everything is perfectly organised.
The Full Experience, Step by Step
01 The Consultation
Every adventure experience begins with a private video consultation.
We will talk about what brought you here, what you want to feel, and what kind of landscape calls to you. We’ll discuss outfits and styling, and talk through any practical questions.
For those travelling to Scotland specifically for this experience, the consultation can happen weeks or months in advance, giving you time to plan your trip around the session, or to build the session into a trip you're already planning. I’m here to help you think through timing, location access, and what to bring so that nothing feels uncertain when the day arrives.
After your consultation has taken place, I will go out and scout the perfect location for you. You will receive an overview of multiple locations to choose from that fit your description. From this you get to pick the location that really calls to you.
You'll receive a full preparation guide before the day. By the time you arrive at your location, nothing should feel unknown.
02. The Experience
You arrive. The landscape opens around you.
Before a single photograph is taken, we take the time to make sure you feel genuinely present: not just physically there, but actually in your body, in the moment. There is no rush to begin. The session starts when you're ready.
From there, every moment is guided. There's nothing to figure out on your own: no poses to rehearse, no right way to stand. Together we find what feels natural to you in the landscape, and we follow that.
Throughout the session we move with the light, taking our time across the location to find what makes you feel great. Between moments there are warm breaks: your own fluffy robe to wrap up in, a hot drink, a snack, and plenty of towels to keep you dry. Everything you need is brought along. Scotland's weather is part of the experience, and you'll be looked after in it.
Sessions run for three to four hours depending on your package. Selected pieces from the client wardrobe travel with us and are available to use throughout the day.
03 The Reveal
The day out in Scotland is long, full, and physical. It needs time to settle.
Your reveal takes place online, within three weeks of your experience You'll receive a private viewing link and we'll sit together, remotely, but side by side, and go through your photographs for the first time.
This is the part most clients say they didn't expect. Every photograph that makes you catch your breath, we'll talk through. Every thought that's less kind, every instinct to find fault: I'll be there. I'll gently redirect your attention. I'll ask you to notice what you felt that day in the landscape, not just what you see on screen now. I'll coach you, without pressure, toward seeing yourself the way these photographs already do.
You leave the reveal with more than photographs.
You leave having been reminded of something about yourself that you had forgotten, or perhaps never quite believed.
04. Delivery & Keepsakes
Your hand-edited photographs arrive in a private online gallery within three weeks of your experience, ready to download and keep. If you'd like your photographs to exist as something you can hold, printed artwork and albums are available to add. We'll talk through what feels right for where you are.
Adventure boudoir isn't one thing either
Solo adventure is the most common: you, the landscape, and a day that belongs entirely to yourself. But it doesn't have to be.
Couples adventure boudoir An intimate experience shared with a partner, with Scotland as your backdrop.
Maternity adventure boudoir You're moving through a powerful chapter, and Scotland's landscape has a way of honouring that.
Milestone and celebration boudoir A significant birthday. A divorce that marks a beginning. A chapter survived. A trip to Scotland that deserves more than photographs taken on a phone.
Personal ritual boudoir Some people build a trip around this experience entirely. They come to Scotland, they do this, and they go home changed. That is a completely valid reason to book a flight.
Not sure which version fits your story? That's what the consultation is for.

The practical questions
-
The joy of Scotland! Scotland's weather is part of the landscape, and some of the most extraordinary photographs come from overcast skies and dramatic light. That said, if conditions make the session genuinely unworkable, we reschedule. We plan together in advance with weather in mind, and you'll never arrive at a location without a clear plan.
-
Absolutely, and many people do. The consultation can take place weeks or months before your visit, so the session is fully planned by the time you arrive. If you're building a trip around this experience, I can advise on timing and locations to help you get the most from your time in Scotland. The reveal session, which takes place two to three weeks after the shoot, can be done online from wherever you are in the world.
-
Sessions are paced entirely around you. Some locations involve gentle walking, others a hike, and some are more accessible. During your consultation we'll choose a location that fits your mobility and what feels right for your body on the day.

Sessions take place across the central belt of Scotland, including locations near Glasgow and Edinburgh, as well as in the Highlands and the Cairngorms. For those travelling from further afield, location planning can begin well in advance of your visit. Transport to your location can also be arranged, just raise it during your consultation.
-
Trust what you're drawn to. Both experiences are powerful in their own way, and I'm happy to help you during the consultation to work out which one fits you best.
-
Yes, completely. As a proud member of the community myself, everyone is welcome in front of my lens. Marieke Captures is, and always will be, a safe and empowering space for all identities: whether you're trans, non-binary, queer, femme, or anywhere in between.
