Couples Boudoir: What Actually Happens During Your Experience

People ask about couples boudoir far more than they book it. Usually because the idea sounds lovely in theory and slightly mysterious in practice. What do you actually do during the experience? Is it awkward? Does one of you end up standing around while the other's photographed?
Here's what actually happens.
It's not just for anniversaries
Most people assume couples boudoir is reserved for big occasions: an anniversary, an engagement, a wedding gift to each other. It isn't. Some of the couples I've photographed booked because it was a random Tuesday and they wanted something that was just theirs, a very special date. No occasion required. If you've been waiting for a "big enough" reason, you don't need one.
Guided, the same way solo experiences are
What you hear me most often say regarding any boudoir experience with is that is always guided and never posed, and it's exactly the same for couples. I'm not handing you a shot list and asking you to perform cute little fake kissing moments in front of the camera. We will take time to figure out what makes the both of you most comfortable: the parts you love most about one another, the way one of you tends to laugh first, and building your entire experience around that.
You don't need a plan. You don't need to have "couple poses" worked out in advance. All you have to do is show up together, and have fun.
What if one of us is more nervous than the other?
This comes up in almost every consultation. It's completely normal, and it doesn't need managing before you arrive: it's part of the experience. But the fun part about this is, that you are not doing it alone! If one of you is more nervous, you can support each other through it, lean on one another; making it a real unique bonding experience. Soon enough this will be a beautiful lasting memory and you will say to one another ‘‘do you remember when we did that?!”.
The same day reveal, together
Same-day reveal applies here too: you're not waiting weeks to see how it turned out, and you're not seeing it apart from each other. You go through the photographs side by side, right after we finalised the time in front of the lens in the studio. For couples, this tends to be the part people remember most: not the shoot, but sitting there afterwards, holding hands while you admire each other in all the photographs.
The practical part
Couples packages run on the same structure as the solo experience, starting from £495, with payment plans available across every tier: spread over up to 12 months, and credit card payments accepted, so it doesn't need to be paid in one go.

Couples boudoir photography is about romance, connection and sensuality: the way you look at each other, the closeness between you. It is not explicit or sexual content, and sessions are photographed and directed with that boundary in place throughout.
