How to Prepare for Your Boudoir Experience
Glasgow, Marieke Captures
The honest answer to "how do I prepare?" is: not as complicated as you might think. You don't need to lose or gain weight first. You don't need to feel confident yet. You don't need to be at a particular place in your journey. All you have to do is… show up. But here's what actually helps when the nerves might overwhelm you.
Start With the Consultation
Before anyone steps into the studio, we have a video call. During this conversation we take the time to get to know one another as well as giving you the opportunity to tell me what you're hoping to feel, any worries you're carrying, and to ensure that this is the right experience for you. Most of what people worry about beforehand gets resolved right here, as easy as that!
Wardrobe: Bring Options, Not a Plan
You don't need to arrive with the perfect outfit already chosen. Bring a few options if you have them, but if you don't, the studio's own curated wardrobe collection is there specifically so you're covered either way. Luxurious fabrics, timeless pieces, all chosen to help you feel entirely yourself in front of the camera.
It is always good to bring along a few options, just so you can see what you lean towards on the day.
Not sure where to start? I've put together a free guide with ten outfit ideas, from lace to denim to nothing but a sheet. You can find it by clicking right here.
Know What the Day Actually Looks Like
There's no rushing and no pressure. You arrive, we go through the wardrobe together, and your experience unfolds at your own pace. Then, and this is the part people don't expect, you don't go straight home. You head out for an hour to a local café: coffee, lunch, a moment to breathe and let it settle. Then you come back for the same-day reveal, where we go through your photographs together while the feeling is still fresh.
If You're Worried About How You'll Look
This is a very understandable worry, after all you are giving away control to the photographer, aka me! Although you are in the same space; you actually have no clue what you might see once the photographs pop up on the screen. Almost everyone arrives believing they're not photogenic, or that their body isn't worth documenting. In six years and having photographed hundreds of people, that fear has never once had the final word. If a photograph feels difficult to look at, that becomes part of the experience too, we work through it together and really lean into the art of self admiration.
The Practical Part
Payment plans of up to 12 months are available across every package as well as credit card payment options, so cost doesn't have to be a barrier to when you book. And whatever you walk away with: digital photographs, a printed album, fine-art prints, is entirely up to you. There's no single "right" way to do this. To see all the options, have a wee look at the pricing page right here.
You Don't Need to Be Ready. You Just Need to Show Up.
That's genuinely the only preparation required. The rest, I'll take care of.
