How Long Does a Boudoir Experience Take?

Glasgow, Marieke Captures

The short straight to the point answer: around 6 to 8 hours, spread across one full day.

The longer answer: a boudoir experience isn’t a photoshoot you squeeze in around other plans. You don’t walk in, take off your coat and get photographed within the hour. It’s set up to feel like exactly what it is, an experience. Some clients have called it a journey. Here’s how the day unfolds at my Glasgow boudoir studio.

Part one: in the studio (about 3 to 4 hours)

Arrive and settle. You’re given your favourite hot drink, enjoy some snacks and we chat while you mentally arrive. Nothing starts until you feel ready.

Warm up. Some rolling of the shoulders and gentle stretches, so your body begins to feel ready for movement.

Breathe. A little breathwork to feel calm, relaxed and intentional about what you’re about to do.

Change. We take the time to see which of the outfits you’ve brought suits you in the moment, and I help with laces, straps and anything fiddly. Not sure what to bring? This guide to what to wear will help.

Find your positions. We explore which positions feel comfortable for your body and match your energy that day, then lean into those. There is no forced poses here or anything that makes you feel uncomfortable.

In front of the lens. At least an hour and a half focused on how you’re feeling, giving you the chance to reconnect with your body in a way that is fully guided every single step of the way.

Change back. You get time to change back into your own clothes, unhurried. (this part will feel weird again!)

Without add-ons (The Shower, Ethereal Gold or the Champagne Experience), this part usually takes around 3 hours. With an add-on, it tends to be around 4.

Part two: a break, just for you

Then you leave to treat yourself to a lovely lunch or coffee, for as long as you enjoy!

Part three: your reveal (about 2 hours)

You return to the studio the same day, and your Reveal begins. This is more than scrolling through photographs. We take the time to truly admire yourself, to untangle the ways you may have learned to criticise yourself, and to step into the art of self-admiration. For many, this is actually the part where they feel like everything shifted.

Afterwards we make sure to take some time to go over album and print selections, that can all be fully personalised to you.

The full picture

All in all, the full experience tends to take between 6 and 8 hours. A full day, carved out for you, to spend time with yourself and your body.

If you’d like to see how it all fits together, this blog to your first boudoir experience walks through it in more detail, and the packages and pricing are all in one place. Adventure Experiences are paced differently, so you can read about those on the Adventure Boudoir page.
