Marieke Captures Studio

The last few weeks have been an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. Asking myself the questions: ‘’ Do I really want to follow my dream?’,’ ‘’ Can I do this?’’, ‘’ Will I be good enough?’’,over and over again. While running numbers at the same time, over and over again. Until I finally decided to sign that paper that says a certain office space is now mine, to turn into a much longed and dreamed-after; photography studio.

Once the paper was signed there was a lot of work to be done on this place. Let’s just say that this place needed quite a lot of TLC for it to actually become the beautiful, light, welcoming space I was envisioning it to be.

Weekends were spent cleaning and painting the walls, walking out of the building with bags under our eyes after another long night of laying laminate. But there was also a lot of excitement; browsing around in furniture stores and finding all the items I had so long dreamed of. Plants were bought and given by lovely friends. Client wardrobe items were finally released from the boxes that they had been living in for so long. I was also never short of encouraging words or shoulders to cry upon when I had another moment of ‘’can I do this?’’. Weeks passed, but it is now here…!!

My very own photography studio in Scotland! It is close to Glasgow, has free parking, bus stops just around the corner, a train station a stone's throw away, an accessibility ramp, an elevator, and plenty of space to move around. Everything I could have ever wished for! The studio has already welcomed a handful of people, but it still hasn’t really sunk in that this space is now mine. For some time at least!

So what does the studio have? Of course, a beautiful area to actually take photos, but it also has a coffee and tea corner with a comfy sofa, a changing area with a privacy screen, a client wardrobe on full display and available to you during your session, photo albums and prints on show and it is just filled with so much love and light.

When I started to envision my own photography studio, I wanted to create a truly welcoming and accessible space for everyone. That dream of mine has now become true. I’m so excited to welcome more of you lovely people in front of my lens.

I hope when I see you soon in front of my lens, in my new studio, that you love the space just as much as I already do!
